Post Low Grade fever in premenopause?

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever experience occassional low grade fevers during (pre)menopause?

My Sister has hotflashes, and is very aware of what those feel like with the sweating and everything. But recently, she will sweat and not have a hotflash. Upon taking her temperature, it is lowgrade. The temperature continues for a few hours and then goes away. There are no other signs of a cold or a flu coming on.

Any possible thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

YES, YES, YES! I used to have it a lot and wondered what in the heck was going on! That's an indication that your ovaries are still producing progesterone. A woman's body temperature rises at least by one degree during ovulation.
Progesterone increases energy production (probably by helping the thyroid hormone work more efficiently) causing a slight rise in body temperatire. This is called the thermogenic effect of progesterone.

Hi Rhonda,

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Gosh, we weren't quite sure what was happening, and we were getting a little concerned. I appreciate your response and helping us out.

I have noticed in myself that when I'm having a hot flash/flush, my body temperature rises sometimes to 99.0. It will go down to normal once my hot flash is finished. I checked my thyroid at it was normal. But I'm 45, how old is your sister?
