Cool Is Provera Causing My Vaginal Rash?

2 yrs. ago, told `went thru menapause.' I had periods,
the monthly aches, no hot-flashes or flushes. Dr. said
to continue Premarin 1-25 & add Provera 16-25 & wait
for period. Said pills are gd. for me to keep taking.
Last yr., around day 17 I started getting the worst
sore-red rash. Ea. mo. @ ea time I needed Desitin &
even ice to soothe. Trial of stopping all last mo. was
a blessing w/ no rash! I'm now suffering w/ wet hot-
flashes. Dr. Doesn't know anything except that rash is
probably caused by pills. Can't stand `HOT FLASHES' &
am considering back to the pills & rash. Rash is gone
end of period? Anyone have this rash problem? Monistat
set me on fire. Any words of wisdom out there?

Hi,
I've had the rash off and on for the last year or so; it even extends sometimes in the crease of my legs. I also use ice (frozen water bottles) to stop the itching and burning. I've no infection either and stopped the HRT 6 months ago; now it comes and goes. Doctor says your skin gets thinner and is more easily irritated. It feels like prinkly heat and does not test for a yeast infection, correct and is easily irritated by going to the bathroom. It helped when I started drinking soy milk and when I use a barrier/healing like cream. When it is dormant I pay attention to the first signs it is acting up, and if it is in the early stages I can stop it by using the cold bottles and putting on a good barrier or healing cream. Oh yes, also I use unscented wipes to make sure I don't leave anything irritating behind and once a week I spray the area with a water bottle and a few drops of tea tree oil.Good luck.

Hi serenity, sorry to say, glad I'm not alone. I've
had tests. All ok. I also get burning rash if I'm put on heavy antibiotics but the timing seems like the provera triggers it. I'm fair skin/blue eyed so I guess things shift as you age. Tea tree sounds like a gd. suggestion along w/ a spritz bottle for the purse.
Great ideas. Let me know if other ointments besides
Desitin helps. Now I know what a diaper rash must feel like! Thank you!

I prefer Ozonole because it also heals. In between I use a barrier type cream so the wetness doesn't irritate me. My skin has always been sensitive. BTW the tea tree oil acts as both an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial treatment. I use a bottle that you can get from the hospital outlet stores that they give you in the hospital (women after surgery down there). It kind of has a squeeze top with holes all around it. They only cost about a buck or two. I think we call them here, in Canada, personal hygiene bottles. I also find I need to shower right away after profuse sweating like after a workout or after being with my husband because the dampness can really trigger the stuff. Hope this helps.
