I just had my period after waiting 54 days! And it was really weird. No cramping, but just brown spotting, and it lasted 3 days.
Is that the start of menopause? I have been in peri-menopause for the last 3 years or so, with gradually lightening periods occasionally, but nothing like this.
It was actually a very nice period-no pain, no tampons needed.
Has anyone else had this experience? and can I expect my period to stop soon?
I didn't have the exact same experience but my period got weird as I was going through peri menopause. That last year before it finally quit was weird for me. When you don't get a period for a year that's when I was told you're into menopause.
Actually, ladies, there's only one day when we can say we have reached "menopause". That's the day when we have not had a "period" for twelve months straight. After that day, we are considered to be in "post-menopause". I have experienced this "light bleeding" (more like brown spotting) a few times now. I have been wondering (and I will put in a call to my gyno asking about this): Can the brown spotting be defined as a "period" when it comes to considering the twelve months necessary to have reached that menopause day, OR the fact that there is no actual blood (red discharge) count towards the twelve month period allocation? In other words, not having a normal (regular period) is to be accounted towards the necessary twelve months even though there is some discharge (brown spotting)? Anybody out there been educated on this point? Thank you.
