Provera is a female hormone. It is used to treat lack of menstrual flow, abnormal bleeding from the uterus, or endometriosis. It is also used to treat certain types of cancer and menopausal symptoms. Possible side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, depression, sleeplessness, or irritability. These effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. I don't know if it will effect your Hypothyroidism, you'll have to ask your Dr about that, and it would be a good idea to have all your hormone levels checked.
I took Provera (years ago) for 10 days only. I had started a period, that just kept going and going. It stopped the bleeding, but my breast were so sore I was almost in tears. It is a form of hormone, but I don't think your Dr would give it too you, if he/she thought it would interfere with your thyroid. I'd sure ask before I took it!
