Hi! My name is Kim and I'm 34. Since I don't know most of you, I can guess you are all saying.....What in the hell is a 34 year old doing here? Most all of the women in my family have gone through early menopause, and at 34....I feel like maybe I am starting too! I always feel like I'm about to burst into tears...even now! I have irregular periods, although I just had an IUD inserted 6 months ago....this just seems different! I just don't even want to do anything much more than curl up and not think of anything else! I wan't to strangle everyone and totally feel like I'm out of my mind! My doc swears I'm too young....he is from the old country....I guess. I can't stand the thought of seeing a different doc, but I just KNOW that I'm going through this.....either that or I'm crazy!

If most of the women in your family have gone through menopause early, then you need to tell your DR that!
Every woman is different, and it makes me mad when Dr's assume something without first listening to the patient, and listening to their symptoms. I've never had an IUD, so I don't know if that could be causing
your irregular periods, maybe someone can answer that.
If you keep having the symptoms, tell your Dr again, and insist that he/she runs some blood tests! Don't take no for an answer!

Kim, don't let your doctor make you feel like you are going crazy. My name is Denise and I too am 34 years old. After 9 months of going to a fertifily specialist, I finally convinced my doctor to do the FSH bloodtest to make sure I wasn't in menapause before starting a very expensive procedure. I just got the results back on Thursday. My level was 67.9, which basically tells me that I have probably been in menapause for several years now. (anything above 40 suggests menapause) I'm in total shock! I've been crying on/off since Thursday. I'm unable to concentrate on anything else - definately depressed. I have to admit, it is nice finding this website and knowing that I'm not alone, but I'm wondering how many woman out there are under 35 years old? I've been doing as much research as I can out on the Internet, trying to decide if at 34 I will use ERT or HRT or neither. I'm scared to death about everyone saying how much weight they've gained. I'm depressed now - that would just put me over the edge. You should convince your doctor to give you the test. It is better to know as early as possible, so you can start taking care of the symptoms and fighting the battle against osteoporosis. Please respond! I just need to feel like I am not the only 34 year old out there going through this (although I do know I'm in the 3 percentile). Take Care, Denise

I just can't wait to get this other blood test to find out for sure and start working on feeling better - whatever the outcome.
