Re: what is causing all my dizzy spells

Hi Lisa!
It's hard to say what may be causing these dizzy spells. Have you seen your doctor on this? I think that's a good idea. I do know some women in peri/meno do experience dizziness and vertigo however. So it could very well be due to this change of life. But dizziness can also be caused by other, possibly more serious things, so a doctor visit is highly recommended by me.
Take care,
~Karen

Re: what is causing all my dizzy spells

lisaly45: Yes, dizziness could be many things. First, go get your blood sugars measured and checked. Dizziness is a side effect of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). You might not be a diabetic but could still be having low sugars. Hypoglycemia also is one of 40 symptoms of estrogen dominance. Look it up - E.D. Do you feel better after you've had something to eat?

The other thing that could cause dizziness is Meniere's disease. For that you need to see an ENT to have your ears tested.

If needed, you could also see a neurologist to get an EEG, CT Scan and even an MRI. A friend of mine was having dizziness and she ended up having an aneurysm that had to be dealt with. Hopefully it's not what I have - menopause caused me to become epileptic with seizures. Don't take no for an answer. Be your own advocate. Good luck.

Re: what is causing all my dizzy spells

lisaly45: I just saw yesterday on the Dr. Oz show another reason for dizziness - ANEMIA. Have your iron levels checked.

Re: what is causing all my dizzy spells

Since you mentioned that your weight has gone up, I would also have your doctor check your thyroid.

Re: what is causing all my dizzy spells

Hey! I am 49 and my period stopped Feb. of last year. A month after my period stopped I woke up one morning and I could not stand up I thought I had a stomach virus but I never thru up that day. Then I am like what is wrong with me. I went to a ENT he said I have Vestibular Neuronitis it can last up to a year and it has but I am lots better but in the back of my mind I still think it is due to hormones. Going to have hormones checked you should to and I hope you feel better soon my prayers are with you.
