Question Peri-M and need something for anxiety!!!

I'm 50 and peri-menopausal. I've had my period 2 times in the past 4 months for only 2 days. I have all the symptoms of peri-m and recently my anxiety and panic attacks have become much worse. In the past, the anxiety would come for a few days every month or so. Now, it's pretty constant.

I'd like to have any suggestions on what is a good med or other good ideas to fight anxiety, panic attacks, mood swings.

I feel anxious and worry all the time about everything! I don't sleep well, waves of hot flashes, brain fog. Some sadness and often feel overwhelmed.

I hate this feeling! Sometimes I feel like I want to jump outta my skin! and other times, I can't move off the couch.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi cindylou2,
If you need a good medication for extreme symptoms, I'd suggest Paxil. It's not only for depression, but also designed to combat anxiety as well. Plus, there are new calming herbal remedies out there too. I sure hope you feel better! ~Karen

Yes! I have major heart palpitations, and fast heart beat at times. Its scarey and very annoying too. I feel awful, I'm unable to take birth control pills, I have read that that does help balance things but was wondering whats good for anxiety. I will ask my Doctor about Paxil too, I've heard that is good.

FYI: Lawsuits related to Paxil are only for pregnant mothers, to which there is a warning for those not to take this medication.
