Progest50 for migraines

After finally discovering that my migraines were directly related to my cycle I went to my dr who prescribed me a low dose hormone. I'm a smoker so she kept it low. I felt great for the first two weeks but then ended up with my usual migraine. I went searching for something more natural and found a web site that sells a book by dr Andrew Jones who claimed to have the "cure" I spent 150.00 buying the progesterone and other supplements: vit D, magnesium, iodine and fish oil. I started getting the worst hot flashes in history...they lasted all day...felt like I was on fire non stop. I do think it actually helped with my migraine when my cycle came around. I only had a slight headache and otc meds took care of it. But it came time to re-order my progest50 and I decided to research it further because I really started not feeling well over-all. Come to find out people were being charged horribly on thier credit cards and not receiver thier orders. Mine showed up within days...so I guess I'm just curious if anyone else has tried this or has any advise. I do have imitrex to take when the migraines come but I'm not liking how I feel on it. Thanks ladies!!

Re: Progest50 for migraines

I've never heard of Progest50 but I will tell you that when I started peri my occasional migraine became a weekly event. My physician referred me to a neurologist who put me on Topamax which is something I take daily to prevent the migraines from ever starting. I've been on it for over two years and haven't had a migraine yet. It may not work that well for everyone but for me it's been a miracle drug. It may be worth looking into.

Re: Progest50 for migraines

BlueSteam: Topomax is a seizure med that is used for migraines. I hear it works but the only caution I'd give you if you decide to take it is that it could cause kidney stones.
