premenopause/menopause

hi, I'm new here and believe my issue is not an uncommon one. Can someone shed a glimmer of light my way PLEASE.

A few months and then last month began experiencing a strange flow cycle. Now just recently its spotting off and on again then a dry spell 2 days (sigh of relief) then my cycle begins shuts off after a day then spotting.
I am 50 and normally regular. Been to see the doctor and next week take a sonogram to see what it reveals if anything, cus not sure if indeed peri or menopause is the real issue. Began taking adrenalin supplement to see what the results will be. I exercise at least 3x a week and diet is not bad although i could lay off the carbs and coffee a bit.

Any advice or shared experience would be helpful.

Re: premenopause/menopause

Bonsai644: You're definitely at the age for peri symptoms. If you can get Dr. John Lee's books "What your doctor won't tell you about menopause" and another one on "perimenopause" they might be able to help you answer alot of your questions. Your hormones are changing and your ovaries are probably not producing eggs now. What you're experiencing is normal. This is why they call it the "change of life". It's a process you have to go through just like puberty. Once you don't have a period for a year you're in menopause. You're just going to have to be patient and adjust to the changes going on. There's alot of information on the boards here too so spend some time looking at what others have to say and you'll know there's alot of support here for you. Take care.
