You doctor can prescribe hormonal cream for the vaginal dryness. The chemist will have over the counter medicines etc for the itching, may be while your at the doctors you should mention the itching, it may be an infection.
I suffered chronic itching, but also had burning and soreness. It was literally driving me insane. I ended up at the emergency Dr and he gave me an antihistamine which stopped it over night, and some steroid ointment which you do need to use cautiously as it can cause thinning of skin.
I then was diagnosed with vaginal atrophy which was the culprit. I use no soap in the genital area just warm water. I also changed to a environment free laundry product. Stress makes it worse, and keeping the area moist is best if atrophy is the cause. So a regular sex life can help.
In saying all this I am assuming you have been fully tested for other causes such as thrush etc. I was told by the nurse I didn't have thrush, and when I asked her why I was still itching she said it must be an external infection, which was totally wrong information as that is not possible.
I use vitamin E suppositories by Carlson's at night a couple of times a week - they are very soothing and have restored some of the natural moisture and tone
