Re: Menopause ruining my marriage, anybody else?

I am going through menopause too, and I sympathize.
I think that rule number one in life is that we can't change others, we can only change ourselves. Maybe this is not a matter of your husband understanding (and I imagine, cutting you slack). My advise is to go to your gynecologist and discuss hormone replacement. I also advise you to start exercising. I'm sorry you're both suffering.
Maybe you can fix this,

Sue

Hi, Lost Youth, and welcome to the boards!

Your screen name really caught my eye because that's how I feel too. I feel as though my youth is gone and I'm only 41. I feel much older most days.

Anyway, like the other poster said, a gyno or even an endo are a good place to start. Get your levels checked and get on natural HRT as soon as you can. As for husbands, they're mostly clueless. I've been married for 12 yrs and have found the best thing to do is to try and educate them as to what's happening with you and your body. I've done tons of reading on the net and I pass the information along to him. I've been going through this peri crap for 4 yrs now. It is really tough on marriages and relationships. We've had sex twice in the last 9 months and averaged every 2-3 months before that. It just sucks!
