Hoping this is perimenopause

Hi I just joined today. I'm 42 and since Feb of this year I started having anxiety attacks sometimes having two periods a month. About three days before I start losing my appetite and very nauseous. I have also experienced hot flashes, crying spells, diarrhea and anxiety and depression. Please someone to me that this will eventually go away. I'm currently. On Zoloft and I have an appointment with my obgyn on Nov first.

Well I hate to rain on your parade, but sometimes it takes awhile to "go away". I am almost a year into it now. Eventually you will learn to cope with the symptoms and just know that you're not losing your mind, it's just perimenopause. There are alot of us feeling the same way you are. The bright side is that you will get through it and there is a promise land of level hormones on the other side!~

Thank you susieq. Today just has been a bad day for me but I have been searching the internet about perimenopause and came across this site. So glad I did because it really helps when you are having one of them days and get words of encouragement. Thank you, Carol

You're welcome! Hang in there and come to this board when you are feeling down. We all have our bad days. I had two in a row and finally feel pretty good today for a change. It's tough sometimes because your body is literally going through "Hormone withdrawls" which must be kinda what drug addicts go through! Your body has been used to them for years and now isn't producing them like it used to. It's very scary at first and until you learn to deal with it, it's tough. I am trying to do it naturally and sometimes I feel like I am going to go crazy. Just remember it's part of being a woman. God KNEW men couldn't handle it so we got the job.

Re: Hoping this is perimenopause

It seems that the symptoms have to do with premenopause. The duration
depends from person to person. however this will not last for ever. perhaps
your gynogologist can prescribe something for you for these symptoms.
however if you are suffering with depression it is necessary to take medication i.e untidepressants so that it does not became severe. as far as i know zoloft is a very good untidepressant but my strong advise to you is to
get a psychaetrist advice. At least in my country only psychaetrist are the
specialist doctors to prescribe medicines. However be patient and all of this
will go away. I also have the same problems and it is getting better and better. eventually you will feel better.

Re: Hoping this is perimenopause

I am only 37 going on 38 and have had an ablation (burned out uterus=( for medical reason s and I have a rare condition that would have made the pregnacy a very high risk, plus the meds that I was and still on would had been very, very deadly to the child. Sorry about my ramblings. I to have the sweats, mood swings, and I cry at everything.Even when my 9 year old tells me she loves me. I hope you feel better knowing that all of us care and understand. Have a wonderful day!

Re: Hoping this is perimenopause

Thank you for your encouraging words it really helps
Had a very rough day and night yesterday. Nervousness, vomitting, and anxiety the worst day I have had. Had to take an atvain which I hate to take medication anyways. Woke up this morning feeling a lot better. It is just so hard for my husband and 19 year old son and a 17 year old daughter to understand. They keep saying it is all in your head or snap out of it. I just wish I could I don't want to be like this but its part of life. Sorry about the long post and I hope you have a wonderful day too!!!
