I feel ill almost every day, could this be perimenopause?

Is there anyone out there who can help me. I feel ill every single day. My head feels foggy, I feel dizzy (lightheaded) and my balance isnt great. I have trouble with my neck and spine. My periods are still regular but the blood loss is getting less. I cry and feel emotional a lot of the time, I can be really snappy and short tempered. I feel really anxious especially in the morning and I wonder how im gonna get through the day sometimes. I dont enjoy things anymore, I dread going out, mainly because of the dizzy feelings. I feel tired a lot of the time. My doctors are rubbish, they have said it is vertigo and put me on tablets but they arent working. Just feel so ill and like im not myself anymore, I want to feel well again but just dont know what to do. Anyone out there feel like me? Anyone can give me any advice, I would love to talk to you and would really appreciate any help

Re: I feel ill almost every day, could this be perimenopause?

Hi Hannah
I got very similar last year, the dr gave me stemitil which did nothing, then they said it was me being anxious and go do breathing excercises, meanwhile I felt worse and worse to the point i started breathing heavy only walking a few steps, I went and asked for a full blood test, urine and stool sample test also an ecg.The results were in my drs hands for 2 weeks before I seen her and in big red letters on her screen it said IRON LEVEL EXTREME LOW my iron had dropped to 4,also my VitD was very low .Within a few days of taking iron and Vit D i felt a little better by 1 month I was getting back to myself it took 4 months of iron and VitD to get me functioning again. Also I have a middle ear disease called menieres causing vertigo and pressure head feeling. So please go a new doctor ask for a total health check also look up low iron and low Vit D symptoms you most likely will find all urs on there
hope ur better soon

Re: I feel ill almost every day, could this be perimenopause?

I could have written your post I went through this last year at the exact same time and I'm going through it again this year. I think part of it is perimenopause and the other part is allergies.

I can't sleep again. I manage 5 1/2 to 6 hrs of sleep at night. Last week I slept 8 hours!! I was like my normal self the following day. I was hopeful, but it went right back to the crappy sleep. I feel drunk in the head all of the time. I think it's from lack of sleep and my sinuses. I get only slightly congested, not even to the point of noticing that I'm slightly congested - my sinuses are causing me some of the weird head feeling.

Just like you, today I just felt so bad. I thought is this what my life is going to be like? Feeling fatigued, off balance, drunk in the head.

I have often wondered about iron. I had blood work done last year when I felt this same way but they didn't check for iron levels. Hmmm...that might be something I might check into. The first thing the doctors want to pin this on is thyroid. But my thyroid is always fine. But they never check iron levels. I guess they assume with all the fortified food iron deficiency isn't overly common. And my period isn't overly heavy or long.

I wish I knew how to fix it. I wish you all did too. I've been taking my natural progesterone hoping that I would see some improvement but that's not even working now. Today I felt pretty down and depressed like there is not light at the end of the tunnel and there is no answer to help me feel normal again.

Re: I feel ill almost every day, could this be perimenopause?

Hi again
My dr tested thyroid too and mine was fine she just said go home ur fine its probably peri menopausal even though I get my monthly cycle every month without fail. Iron at normal is 22 to 200 mine was 4, its unbelievable I could even walk round at that level, a specialist for my inner ear and vertigo issues said he wouldve sent me to hospital and put 2 pints of blood back in me or stabbed me with an iron injection, I did it the long way taking iron tablets daily because I am a scaredy cat of hospitals n needles but my Dr didnt even suggest either of them, she shouldve called me the day she knew they were that low as 3 days after that test I got my monthly and it was like floods from hell so I assume it dropped more.VitD isnt just for bone health either it can cause lots of supposed menopausal problems too, go ask your dr to do a full blood workup, being sure to check Iron, VitB VitD etc etc,
I dont go to that dr now shes sent me home a few times saying "u look to healthy" or "its not painful enuff to be this or that" last visit she didnt even batter an eyelid as I cried with fear and worry about a medical prolem I had, I didnt expect her to hug me but to show some sort of understanding or empathy wouldnt have hurt
I suggest u demand a full look at a simple blood test, 4 months I spent getting worse and worse sent home with no answer and all along it was so obvious and simple
anyway I hope u have an answer soon

Re: I feel ill almost every day, could this be perimenopause?

I also could have written your post...yes, I feel ill almost everyday and I know it is peri. I have 6 days a month where I feel like myself, they are cherished days. I live in hope that I can feel good again everyday like I used to, the old me is not here, maybe she will come back, I don't know.. I have been told by other women that when it is over you feel better than ever, I hope I can write that in here someday. I have a new prescription for Estrogen and progesterone, I have tried so many things I am going to give HRT a try, this is no quality of life so it can't hurt. Hang in there, you are never alone in this.

Re: I feel ill almost every day, could this be perimenopause?

Hi Ladies..I am in the same boat! I have felt sooo sooo out of sorts this past week that I have even considered going to the ER. Nothing that I can put my finger on, just foggy and lightheaded, heart palps and HUGE periods of anxiety. Of course, every bout of anxiety also brings the doom feeling. I am on my period this week, so I believe it is hormone related. I am wondering if any of you ever get that doom and gloom feeling when this happens to you. I sometimes feel like I am dying. I get so scared sometimes and every ache and pain just adds to my anxiety.
Thanks so much for listening!! I feel better knowing that I am not alone!
I hope you all get a good nights rest and feel wonderful in the morning!!
