NEWBIE --- thinking Im going thru the change.. HELP
I am 53.
Has a hysterectomy 8 yrs ago and have both of my ovaries. Doc said in about 5 yrs, I shoud go thru the change, although it has been 3 years PAST that 5 yr limit...Maybe I'm slow.. lol.

I have no idea what to expect from menapause.

Last 2 nights, I have had 2 bad leg cramps--thought I was dying. I am eating more bananas, hope that helps.
I also have been sweating my rear end off. Back of my neck gets so damp.
I have changed the thermostat to accommodate me. lol.

Is this the beginning? What else can I look forward to?

Sounds like that's what's going on with the night sweats. Have you investigated HRT or going on birth control until your periods stop?

try taking extra magnesium. people in peri or menopause usually don't get enough. might help with the cramping. in answer to, what to expect....everyone is different. i went through hell and back with mine. yours might just be the hot flashes, irritability, cramps etc. you won't know until it bothers you. try not to "expect" anything and i'm sure you will fly through it. it's a normal transition for almost all women. hang in there!
