I have read many posts about the sufferings of women my age. I sound like the typical nut case too. My question is, how long do these crazy emotional swings last ? Are there any women who have gotten through to the other side of this disfunction? I don't want to use HRT . My husband is being VERY understanding . And I love him for that. But how long till it's over??? Thanks ladies
Thank-you for your reply! I appreciate it so much !!!! I am 55 now, periods stopped for about a year and hot flashes have subsided somewhat. But the crazy thinking and highly emotional swings are almost out of control sometimes! nobody warned me about that part of menopause I have quit the caffeine to see if that helped. It did a wee bit. I haven't been tested or anything. I know i'm in the full throws of it, LOL Thanks again Titchou

Titchou, my mom was on HRT for about 10 years, than she got breast cancer. Had a mastectomy and is free now for 5 years. That's why I don't want to go on it. I was hoping things just kinda went back to some kind of normal life eventually. Everyone is different though. I'm just going to have to get to the dr. and get checked out. I'm overdue anyway :/ thanks again!
Sorry she had to endure that. So far, there is no cancer of any kind in my immediate family out to first cousins, aunts, uncles other than an uncle who got pancreatic cancer at age 82 (he was a smoker) and my grandfather who had lung cancer from working in the steel mill. Women are all fine and that includes two great grandmothers who live to mid 90's. So my sister and I feel pretty OK about it. She'e been on it for about 30 years since a hysterectomy in her early 30's. Everyone has to take family and personal history into consideration.
Yes, family history plays a huge part too! I am glad it is working out for you and your sister, for sure !!! And i may change my mind when I see the dr. Who knows, LOL. I am having a normal day today, and am so happy about that! But the day is young yet, LOL So here's to No mood swings for today, *clink* !
