I need some help with my symptoms.

I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I had a fungal infection. He didn't do the fungal infection with the light, but he looked down there and based the dx on my symptoms and the location of the symptoms.

My symptoms:

I have a weird mildly itchy/tingly sensation in the area between my upper inner thigh and groin on my left side. I also noticed a patch of white dry looking skin (kinda round in shape) in that area. Just started the anti-fungal cream this morning. How long before it feels better?
The weird thing is that I seem to feel it more when I sitting, but not when I'm walking around.

I'm also itchy a bit sometimes on the other side of my groin and in my pubic hair on top and bottom, seems to come and go.

What do you guys think? Does this sound like a fungal infection or an STD?

I had a negative herpes test last week, but got retested for it yesterday and am waiting for the results. I also just got tested for all other STD's.

How does an fungal infection feel like? What does it look like? What are symptoms of a fungal infection?
