| | Painful left nipple
I am 39 years old. This pain or soreness started maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago. It is on left nipple only. I can grab my entire breast and have NO pain. I can lightly push in my nipple or lightly tap my nipple and get plenty of pain. The pain is definitely NOT from an exterior source such as clothes rubbing the nipple. No lumps or bumps are present that I can find. I have no discharge. I am currently over weight at 5' 7' and 195 but I am losing weight from diet and exercise. My boobs are a little large and flabby from no exercise. Let me emphasize "A LITTLE LARGE", they mainly are just out of shape from sitting on my rear end and if you never saw me when I was in shape you wouldn't even notice. They have been this way for 5 years with no problems until now. My brother has jokingly asked me what size bra I wear. When I squeeze my left nipple area and breast area in search of lumps the pain increases 5 fold the next day and then gradually subsides a couple days later but is never entirely gone. This extra pain from lump searching has happened twice and this time my left breast area around the nipple & the nipple itself is actually putting off more heat than the right breast and right nipple and it seems to have some inflammation as the nipple is slightly firmer than the right one. It's almost like there is an infection under my nipple. All these symptoms are basically mild. This pain is not anywhere but in the nipple or just beneath the nipple. The pain is definitely located within the perimeter of the nipple and doesn't seem to go any deeper than a half inch. It is extremely localized. Isn't the nipple where nerve endings are clustered?
I have read up on gynecomastia and I don't think this is the problem, of course I'm just an "internet doctor". I will give this about 1 week to 10 days and it's to the doctor if it doesn't subside. Sorry for the long post.
Does anybody have experience with these symptoms?
