My boyfriend's penis is driving me crazy!

My boyfriend is european and uncircumsized. I have noticed a fishy smell from his penis when his foreskin is pulled back. I notice it even after he washes himself with soap and water. Now I have noticed myself having yeast infection after yeast infection, with a similiar smell. I went to the doctor and tested negative for all STDs but he found a high amount of clue cells in my pap smear. My boyfriend tested negative for STDs as well. Are the clue cells from my boyfriends penis? Is my boyfriends penis giving me infections? Are there many infections a woman can get from a man's uncircumsized penis? Is there anything that can help with the odor for his penis, or stop it altogether? My boyfriend is trying to find a way to get rid of the smell as well. He's very clean and showers and washes his foreskin at least once a day.

I'm no doc but here's my advice.....
If your B/F is showering and washing regularly maybe he need to see his doctor, there maybe something down there....

There are several things that your boyfriend can try, including 1. cleaning his foreskin & head with liquid anti-bacterial soap. 2. cleaning his foreskin & head with alcohol. 3. see his Dr.

Re: My boyfriend's penis is driving me crazy!

Alcohol?!!! That's a ridiclous suggestion on such delicate tissue and even soap often upsets the balance and makes any smell worse. Rinsing with plain water is usually enough. A doctor in the US is likely to suggest circumcision as a first option. Are you sure you are not just being paranoid? Women collect smegma in the folds of their genitalia and can smell much the same as intact men. Men are told to appreciate the smell of women but in a circumcised world women have become unused to any normal odour from a man. Using strong soaps may have upset his natural flora and changed his smell. He may need to try a few creams to kill off yeast, fungal or bacterial infections caused by that imbalance. Then he can try using plain water.
Your yeast infections may have nothing to do with his intact state. I'm circumcised and we had a lot of trouble when starting our sexual relationship with such infections. It sometimes takes quite a few months for you to get used to each other's flora. Eventually things settle down but it is not a lot of fun until that happens. He should wear condoms for a while and both of you should then be treated with an anti-yeast cream until you are clear. Then try sex without the condoms again.
Cervical cancer has nothing to do with foreskins. That supposed link was disproved years ago. It is caused by human papiloma virus and your likelihood of catching that virus is increased by the number of sexual partners you have had. I doubt if the clue cells are from his penis.

Geoff, I am sorry but I have to disagree. Alcohol is an antiseptic that is good for cleaning the skin... They use it to prep both adults and babies skin in the hospitals before procedures all of the time... There is nothing wrong with using anti-bacterial soap as long as you get it washed off...

That is all fine on outside skin but the inner tissues of the foreskin are a mucous membrane. Alcohol would sting like crazy and irritate these delicate mucous membranes. It would be like using alcohol inside the vagina. The circumcised penis is keratinised and the membranes that are left are not quite as delicate but I still don't think I would let anyone put alcohol on my glans. Some guys can use soap (antibacterial or plain) for washing under the foreskin without any problems but others find it upsets the natural balance and makes the smell worse, even if well rinsed off.
On thinking about this guy's particular "fishy" smell some more I remember one poster said that was an indication of a fungal infection. It could be another sort of infection though. It is not normal for an intact guy to smell fishy though. He needs some cream to clear it up. Of course both sexual partners should be treated at the same time, while using condoms.

Alcohol, I agree would be to strong for such a sensitive area. Maybe an antibacterial soap would be a good idea. Uncircumcized men can have this odor at times, sometime daily. Try using a condom for a while and see if your yeast problems clear up...Good Luck

GeoffB is correct.

Would you use rubbing alcohol to clean the inside of your mouth, nose or under your eyelids, or the inner folds of the vagina? The thought of using alcohol to clean any of those sensitive areas, including under the foreskin of a penis, is rediculous. Harsh soaps are iffy. A mild cleanser will be sufficient if one doesn't want to use just water.

So sorry you are having trouble. My first husband was uncircumsized. I kept infections while married to him. He too, was very clean, but I got them anyway.
There are great ways to kill bacteria naturally. Keep a container in the bathroom for washing after using the toilet. Add to warm water a few drops of Tea Tree or Lavender oil. Make sure they are pure essential oils. Both are anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-biotic. If b/f doesn't live w/you suggest the same to him. I was told women who flush the vaginal area after using the toilet have less infections in general. I was told this by an OB-GYN.
He was shocked to know that rinsing that area w/water after using the toilet was part of a religious practice for me.
Just using water is a good thing to do all the time, but since there seems to be a bacteria or fungus lurking try the essential oil method. Lavender smells best, but Tea Tree might be stronger.
Hope this helps.
