Exclamation Swollen glands in groin area. Please help!

I'm a 21 one year old male. I don't know what I've got. I only know it's not a normal thing. These are my symptoms ...

-swollen glands in the groin area, which hurt! Glands in neck and armpits aren't swollen.
-occasionally pain in left leg
-a bit of "pain" in left testicle, although I don't know wether or not I'm mixing it up with the pain I get from the swollen glands. It's a bit more sensitive than the right one though, but it's not swollen and neither am I in screaming pain. The pain I get from the glands is a lot more severe.

I went to the doctor and he took a blood sample. When he examined me there was nothing wrong with the testicle so I didn't mention it. He did feel it though, and it didn't hurt. Next friday I will get the results. He put me on antibiotics. In the meantime, is there anyone who's *** a clue about what's wrong with me? Please tell me this isn't gonna cause any fertility issues or something like that. I need someone to put my mind at ease while i'm waiting for my results.

Take care

Do you have any noticable sores in the area? Herpes causes the nodes in that area to swell up. If you have swollen lymph nodes, you do have something going on in your body, they don't just swell up without a reason.

Let us know what you find out.

The only sores I'm experiencing is a sensitive testicle and some pain in the lower back on two separate occasions last week. Maybe all of this is coming from my kidneys?

I'm sure I'll have some news on friday.

I really wouldn't know whereor when I could have caught herpes. I don't think it's herpes, at least I hope it isn't

First - since you never said anything about visible sores or lesions, I do not understand why herpes were even brought up.

Swollen glands (lymph nodes) can be a symptom of some type of infection going on in the body. The infection is usually in the vicinity of the swollen glands (i.e. ear/throat infections can cause swollen glands in the neck). Believe it or not, I've heard of swollen glands from infected splinters and even bug bites.

There are a number of things than cause testicle discomfort as well (and most are completely benign) - infections and inflammation.

Your statement about the low back pain may be a clue as well (I hope you told the doctor about that). There are so many things that could contribute to that (infections I mean) - kidney, prostate, bladder - just to name a few.

I trust that your doctor performed all the tests he felt were required to narrow down your condition. Prescribing the antibiotics was definitely a good idea. Remember that it takes them a few days to work - and take all of them for sure!

Try to relax about it and wait for the test results.

Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement! In the meantime, I'll try to rest as much as possible and take the antibiotics. I'll see what happens on friday.

Thanks!

Well, I'm not saying that herpes is what he has, and I really hope he figures it all out, but herpes was just brought up as a possibility since herpes does cause the lymph nodes to swell. It is very possible, and actually more common, to have herpes but NOT get sores or lesions. Only about 20% of those with genital herpes actually get visible sores. The remaining 80% just carry the virus, and the virus activates and sheds asymptomatically from time to time (this means the virus activates, but produces no sores that are generally associates with "outbreaks"). during this asymptomatic shedding, the lymph nodes will swell, and that will be the only physical indication of the outbreak.

The doctor didn't find anything wrong with my blood. So he's sending me to a specialist. He said it's possible they're going to take out a gland for investigation. He said it's eiher a virus or an infection of the glands themselves
