Red Skin in Groin - Men's Health Message Board

I'm 27 & for years now I've had red, sensitive skin in my groin, where my legs meet my merchandise and wondering if anyone has a suggestion. I use baby powder daily to keep the area dry but I am unsure if I need a cortisone creme to heal it or a fungal creme to heal it. It has never really spread but sometimes appears more red and irritated. It has NEVER itched. I thought it was dry skin and i've moisturized it, i realize that area can get sweaty so i try to keep it dry now with baby powder. Any suggestions?!!

Sure sounds like a heat rash to me, happens to me, partiularly in warm weather. I've used Lotrimin AF spray to treat it with great success. However, mine is usually itchy or swollen as well. Might give this a try. I was going to suggest powder too as I have used it for years to keep things dry down there, I tend to sweat alot and the baby powder (or Gold Bond is even better) has helped tremendously! Hope this helps

Hey,i used to get that before,but i got a cure ina magazine and as crazy as this may sound!!!! it said that the rash was from sharing towels with someone,so next time your going for a shower use a fresh towel-i cant gurrantee that it will work!

Thanks for your help. I've been using a fungal spray and a fungal lotion for 2 weeks regularly and see no improvement. It has never itched which makes me wonder if it is even fungal or not. The skin just looks very irritated and red.
I use the powder daily.

I think you need to get it checked out by a doctor. I've had rashes that were fixed by cortisone or by anti-fungal cream but they always itch. This sounds different.
