Ok, this is kind of embarassing for me, but I need to get this problem fixed so I need your help. About a month ago I noticed that I had a certain body odor that doesn't smeel very good. Basically smells like bo. The problem is I can't get rid of it. I shower daily sometimes twice a day and I have very good hygeine. I will smell generally pretty good after a shower, but an hour or so later it's back. Before this came about I allways was complemented on how good I smelled. Even after working out or hot sweaty days I allways smelled good. So in short I've never had this problem before. No one has commented yet about the bo, I think only because I have good hygeine and try to mask it with some good deodorant. But I can smell it myself so eventually someone will smell it. Nothing in my life has changed one bit so I don't know why I am having this problem all of a sudden. I've heard that infections can sometimes cause this, but I don't feel sick. I plan on seeing my general doctor about this, but I can't see him for a couple weeks. Also I don't really know if a family doctor will know how to fix the problem. So should I see a specialist, if so what type of doctor should I see? If anyone has any info of what might cause this or about what type of doctor to see I would appreciate the help. Thanks.
Before seeing your doctor, try seeing if any dietary changes affect the situation.
For me, red meat will cause it.
I debated whether to write this down because I don't want to alarm you, but in the course of researching some situations I face, I noted the interesting anecdotal evidence that apparently there is a body odor that precedes leukemia, but I believe that only happens in children. Which means you shouldn't skip the doctor's visit.
Thats a good idea, but I'm not really interested in covering up the problem with a temporary solution. I don't mean to shoot your idea down or anything, but I've never had this problem before so I am starting to think there is something medically wrong with me. I'm mainly interested to see what type of medical conditions if any may cause this. I think my best bet is to see a doctor, but which type I'm not sure. Thanks.
I've been there done that. Those so called 'doctors' will tell you that all you need to do is put on some deodorant on and tell you to take showers at least 3 times a day. Even if you tell them you do exactly just that. Or, They'll tell you to watch what you're eating. In most cases, watching what you eat doesn't help either. This body odor condition seems to be an unknown condition to 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999% of those so called 'doctors' out there. Simply a joke! This chronic bo condition should be researched and be taken more seriously. It is an embarrassing condition and no one seems to care, not even those so called 'doctors'. They'll simply just laugh at you when you try to explain them your problem. Very unfortunately for those with the condition. I consider this a disability because you're not normal with this condition. But, Life goes on. Just try your best to get by and maybe a cure will come. Or maybe you'll get a better life in your next life. Who knows, but just don't give up.
The type of smell may help in determining the cause:is it a cabbage smell, a mousy smell, sweet smelling, metallic etc? Sounds like a problem some where in your gastrointestinal system, maybe you have difficult processing some foods. Protein foods are especially difficult for some to digest, so instead of the body using it, it just kind of sits there and rots. Maybe by taking out the proteins and using a good quality digestive enzyme with every meal may help rid you of this smell.
Thanks for the responses and sorry I haven't responded in a while. Anyways, like I said before I don't think it has anything to do with my diet since I've always eaten what I eat now. The only way to describe the smell is let say it smells like I haven't showered in a week or more. I smell fine when I first get out of the shower for about an hour or two then I start to smell. I've never had this problem before up until like three months ago so I'm very confused. One thing that does stick out is I've had pretty bad stomach aches that are intermittent. Sometimes I'm fine and sometimes I feel like vomiting although I never do. There's a few other symptoms that are present although I'm not sure if they are related to each other. About a year ago I started to get acne which has never been a problem for me even through puberty. I also seem to bruise easier and scar easier than before. I get cold sweats sometimes at night, but this could be a side effect of a medicine I'm on. I've had this problem for 4-5 years, maybe even longer. I'm really at a loss and I don't know how to go about solving my problem. The weird thing is that I used to be able to go without showering if I'm camping or something for like a week and I never smelled bad. I don't think I smelled great or anything doing that, but I definitely don't smell great now. I go to see my doctor this Wed. so hopefully he will have some idea of what is going on.
