Rash on legs and groin area.

I have had a real itchy rash for about 3 months now that started on the inner thighs and penis/genital area. The rash is sensitive to heat (like when Im taking a shower) and it will feel like Im scratching the rash whenever hot water hits it, but then after a moment or 2 the itching goes away.

The rash clears up more during the day and after showers, this leads me to believe it is a fungus.

Also another problem, sores and other skin problems seem to take longer to heal now than usual and my skin seems to be putting more blood to infected areas (they are redder, and sometimes the sores fill with blood).

Another problem is my penis glans get flaky, as if the skin is extremely dry but if I try to whipe or pick off the flakes it will cause the glans to bleed slightly.

I notice all of this started at the same time, so Im sure all of this is associated.

And I am 100% positive it is not an STD.

Also, the rash seems to be moving to my stomach and back as well.

I am trying Gold Bond medicated anti-itch cream now, if it does not clear up within a week I am going to see a doctor.

Is Goldbond safe to use on the penis glans?

Re: Rash on legs and groin area.

Hey man, this definately sounds fungus related, maybe jock itch. I'm thinking that if it keeps spreading its a doc thing. But first try using Lotrimin AF, its a spray that you can find with jock itch/athletes foot products. That may clear it up. Be careful though about putting things like that directly on your penis or glans, spray it on your inner thighs, scrotum etc. If it works, it also comes in an ointment form that you could try on your stomach. Good luck.

Re: Rash on legs and groin area.

Another possibility is a form of eczema. I'm dealing with something similar right now, although only involving areas of the scrotum and inner thighs. Sounds similar: flaky at times, other times angry and red and wicked itchy for no apparent reason. The skin has become a little darker and itches between applications of hydrocortisone, which a doctor can prescribe for you. These steroid creams come in different strengths and a doc can help you choose the right one for the particular areas affected.
Good luck.

Re: Rash on legs and groin area.

Thanks for all the help people. I am feeling relief when I use this Gold Bond medicated cream, and the durations in between me having to re-apply it are getting longer and longer so that makes me believe the gold bond cream is killing the fungus. I am also showering twice a day now to help keep sweat and germs to a minimum. I hope that within a week the fungus will be completely killed.

Thanks for all the help, and if it doesent stop within a week, im seeing a dermotologist.

Re: Rash on legs and groin area.

I have had what I thought was jock itch on and off for years. The itching is unbearable. I sometimes have to dig my nails into the skin just to the side of my b@lls to get relief. It is esp. bad at night. I found out it is eczema, not jock itch. The hydrocortisone cream works for a few days, and then it comes back. I have tried switching from boxers to briefs, but that has not given any relief. Any suggestions?

Re: Rash on legs and groin area.

Yeah, I do. Get Gold Bond Medicated anti-itch cream and use that twice daily after each shower (take 2 showers a day) untill it is gone, should take about a week or 2. If you cant get any gold bond do the same thing with bleach, bleach hurts like a mother, but it fix's the problem in about the same time as the gold bond.
