the gym i recenty joined has a whirlpool in the locker room next to the sauna and steam rooms. most men i have seen in there just go naked from one to the next without a second thought. i have no problem being naked in a steamroom/sauna/shower with other guys because you're not so close. but it seems a little "funny" to be that close to other guys in a hot tub. so far i have only gone in there when no one else was using it. am i being ridiculous or should i just get over it and jump in? any thoughts?
I also belong to a gym that has a whirlpool in the mens locker room, no problem going naked..... lets face it, in the sauna you are sitting there naked and everyone can see it all in teh pol your under water! and besides your not sitting "cheek to cheek" in the pool!

I wouldn't say ridiculous, I would say irrational. Sports team organizations large and small usually use whirlpools and the guys just hop in. it's not immasculine to sit close to another naked guy in a whirlpool in the context you describe.
And think of this: a whirlpool is a whole lot more sanitary than a sauna bench because of its high chlorination, so the tub is a safer bet, too. So lighten up a little!
But if you do decide to go clothed, use a speedo that you keep for that purpose. getting in in your underwear or workout gear would just be wrong.
I wouldn't say you're being ridiculous or irrational, just shy! And it's understandable. I was shy my first couple times at my gym too. Just try to focus on the health benefits and how much your stiff muscles will appreciate a long soak in the hot water.
