Stinging in bowel/front area

I'm curious, I just experienced some sharp stinging sensations in the bowel area... Well, at the front - just above the testicles, but far below the belly button. I felt it about five times, it started and stopped like a throbbing feeling (but with a sting). i didn't feel the need to pass urine, but I decide to go to the toilet to see if it relieved it. After that the feeling stopped, either because I passed urine or it just stopped on it's own - But has anyone else experienced it? I often get very short stinging sensations in other parts of my body (usually the bowel area, to the right, sometimes left, around the lower ribs) but this one felt different and was in a new area. I am currently having trouble going to the toilet, I can go every day or two days apart, but I never feel like I've been properly and I always seem to have marble/ball like stools, and rarely do I have a proper sized one. Is this sensation connected to anything?

Re: Stinging in bowel/front area

sounds like a possible infection or kidney blockage.
See your doctor!

Re: Stinging in bowel/front area

I already see the Doctor about other issues. I won't be going there just for that. If it occurs again, I'll consider it, but just one time... I'll add it to the list of ailments :P Any other ideas?

Re: Stinging in bowel/front area

After looking at a diagram, the stinging sensation I felt seemed closer to the surface - in front of the bladder, and not as high up as the kidneys. No where near there.

Re: Stinging in bowel/front area

well maybe a strain or hernia?!? still consider the possibility of infection or partial blockage

Re: Stinging in bowel/front area

Hummm. The stinging could be a variety of things. Do you only feel it when you need to urinate, or all different time of the day? As for your stool, sounds like, other than changeing your diet, you could use a good colon cleanser. Hopefully it's something that simple and not serious. If changing diet, and exercise does do the trick, then it is something that you need to have checked out by some one who specialize in bowel/colon problems. I say that because my landlord died a couple of years ago from a bowel disorder. They found out what the problem was, but it was to late. They first thought it was sevier heart burn. He couldn't keep much down, and he had problems using the restroom. His problem was a twisted colon! They found this out too late to help him. He was only 51 years old. Very active, single, and had lots of plans for the future. I pray that your problems are simple! One that exercise, and good eating habits will cure...

Re: Stinging in bowel/front area

I'm 21. I have had lots of indigestion problems since February, and although the cause was never found, I had blood tests, examiniations and x-rays done and all came back ok. I was put on Ranitidine, which I've been on for 6 months now at a reduced rate (down to 150mg per day). The hernia one *was* something I thought I had for ages, but after a while it doesn't fit - I don't always get problems and some days I feel absolutely fine. People I've spoken to with hernias say you *definitely* know it when you've got one.

Well, I do have trouble passing stools - I can go every day, but - they always come out as balls no larger than marbles or a golf ball. Lately I rarely am able to do normal sized stools, but I was going fine only a few weeks ago. I do eat lots of fiber and a healthy, fairly balanced diet with about an hour of walking per day.

I can urinate fine. No troubles there, and no stings. Also, that feeling I mentioned, I only had it a few times on the day I posted. I haven't had it since and felt more or less fine (I always get the odd bit of excessive wind though, sometimes heartburn, sometimes acid pains - it tends to vary depending on what I eat and when)
