Hello, I know it's hard to give avice to someone without a good history but I'll give a short version of my history..
At age of 35 *I'm now turning 50* I had pain in my urethra this was after I somehow cut myself off while having sex.. At the time I had pain and a little blood right after it when I went pee the first time.. Went to my doctor many times and ended up on Cipro on and off for about 6 months.. I still had a little uncomfortable feeling after peeing so My reg. doctor sent to to a urologist. He talked to me and setup a appointment for a scope *1995*. I went and he did his thing with out any meds! It was barbaric steal scope! After the procedure he told me I had a small stricture and he cut it to open me up.. Ya!!! If I had any guts I would have shot the son of a B--ch.. I was in pain after that 6 months still in pain he gives me a rectal with his finger and said I think I can help you you have BPH and put me on Hitren Spelling? I thought great.. Months after still pain.. So I finally got smart and went to another urologist. This guy wanted to scope me after talking to my just like the first guy.. I was smart and moved on to another guy after living with increasing pelvic pain.. 2 years latter I could not take it any more and seen another urologist.. This guy I liked this was in 1997 he talked to me a long time and I told him my story.. He ended up putting my on Cipro and Motrion for 30 days with sitting in a tub of hot water twice a day.. Finlay some relief!!.. Ok after about to months I had some trouble with the feeling of pain when I had almost nothing in my bladder.. I went back to talk to my uroligest and he suggest a scoping in his office. I was hesitant but he said he would not do anything but look and he used a rubber scope that was much smaller the the first doctor used * I think he said it was 14mm*.. I trusted him and got it done.. He said he could see where my original stricture was but the scope passed through it with ease and he would not do anything at this point as it would just cause more scar tissue.. He also said I had BPH and that the inside of my bladder was normal.. so he put my on Flomax.. Again relief.. took it for little over a year but was having some issues with sex so I cut back to every other day on the Flomax and the off it for to years with diet and hot tub sits when I got flair ups.. in 2003 it all fired up again.. Let me say I had seen the urologist once a year when things were good and from 2003 till now every 6 months because of pain and issues with urinating.. He will not put me on a drug like Avardart to reduce the size of my prostate as he didn't think it was large enough to cause issues. I get tested for BHP? and kidneys once a year from the start all looks good so he said Flomax was my best choice but it don't seem to be working and still won't put me on anything else.. He can't seem to help and said he could scope me but said he didn't think he would see any thing because my tests I have once a year come back normal so I didn't push it.. I stand now.. Pain issues peeing that come and go so many years of this pain and need to know if any pain meds would work better then others for this kind of pain.. Vicodin EX don't cut it most of the time.. My urologist keep saying he sees a lot of guys with my symptoms and not much more I can do about it just deal with the pain and see him every 6 months.. What do I do now? How do I deal with it any more? Is there many guy's out there in my boots that just have to deal with so much pain? I guess if I can't pee I'll do what I have too what ever that means like the ER.. But I am trying to manage this the best I can.. Flomax don't do much and now I get bad vertigo from it at night.. Doctor said when I have flair ups hot tub of water twice a day Motrin twice a day and Flomax for 3 weeks if I don't or can't keep taking it go with Lorazepam for stress.. He thinks stress has a big part in my pain and issues.. Hope you all can read this between my bad typing and spelling it make it hard for me to post.. But I'm kinda at my breaking point and need some help.. I do take Saw palmetto 160 Mg a day and have for years I don't know if it helps but figure the heck.. I'm going to take some Flomax and see if that will help.. Any help would be greatly appreciated! George

You may be suffering from high estrogens & DHT. Have you had your testosterone, estradiol E2, & DHT levels tested.
DIM along with zinc will lower the E2.
Arimidex will stop conversion of testosterone into E2
Saw Palmetto will reduce the conversion of testosterone into DHT.

Thanks for telling me of some med's to help but can you give me a little more as to how much of each I should take that may help me? George
If it is high then you can try the DIM, zinc & Arimidex.
Arimidex is by prescription & expensive withour insurance. I take 2 DIM, one zinc every other day. I take 1/2 Arimidex tablet on the day of my self injected 100mg Testosterone Cyp injection.
You have to get your testosterone & estradiol E2 tested every few months to see how the treatment is doing, it may need to be adjusted up or down.
Thanks for this great info! I'm going to my Primary Care Doctor late July for a physical .. Can I ask him to get Thea's tests done? If not I'll see my uroligest soon after that and will ask him. But I think I'll have a better chance with my reg. doctor to tell you the truth.. George
