Is anyone familiar with an every 10 week Testosterone injection program?

I may have the opportunity to participate in a study involving a once every 10 week testosterone injection program. Supposedly this is common in Europe, or so they tell me. I am being mailed copies of the informed consent materials. Of course, I shall not do this until I have exhausted all other possible options and ruled out other causes, etc.

Is anyone familiar with this? If yes, what's it about and what's the word? Certainly seems better than a weekly or biweekly system.

Re: Is anyone familiar with an every 10 week Testosterone injection program?

I think I have heard something was in development that required less often injections. My assumption is whatever they inject you with is very slowly absorbed. One of the keys to testosterone replacment is to keep estradiol down to a level of 20 - 30 or 35 pg/mL. Some testosterone is converted to estradiol by an enzyme called armoatase. My doctor's theory is if T levels rise too quickly it makes even more T aromatize into estradiol. Also, if your total T gets too high it can make estradiol higher. So you should ask them if they will monitor estradiol during this study. If this new product absorbs very slowly it might be good at also keeping estradiol down.

If you participate please post how things are going and if you can get your lab numbers include them. I would love to hear about that.

For now I shall be pre-qualified and do nothing till I see a specialist (m)

I'll be seeing a speialist at a large teaching/research hospital in about 6 weeks. While I may get prequalified, I'll likely do nothing till I see the specialist. Local doctors proved useless.

As an aside, I wonder if the low T is affecting my moods. I find myself nearly always irritated and irritable.

Absolutely it effects your mood. That is very normal. The mind and body work in unison. You are feeling great frustration, low energy, low libido, ED, poor concentration, etc etc... and until you found out about the low T probably had no idea why. Tell your partner about it so they understand and just do your best not to take it out on others until you can get things resolved.

I am fortunate that my wife is extremely understanding and supportive (m)

She is more concerned with my atypical irritability than anything else, especially since I still "work" well enough for the most part. Got some Cialis pills about a month ago & havn't needed them.

Still, I notice I'm stagnant at the gym and exhibit many of the symptoms you mention. Very irritating-slight pun intended. I always subscribed to the mind over matter philosophy.

I had another thought while doing research on this issue after stumbing across various bodybuilding sites that discuss what amounts to rehabilitation of the body's ability to produce testosterone naturally. Seems that some steroid abusing men claim the ability to at times re-start the body's machine. Could be true and could be BS. I wonder. It there is any truth to it, it may well be worth looking into. Therein lies the problem- Many leads, yet few ways to know which one of many is worth pursuing.
