Androderm Patch - How long to feel effects?

I am 35 years old and was diagnosed with very low Testosterone. My doc put me on Androderm and I've been taking it for about a week. Just wondering when I can expect to feel better? I am still tired/weak/depressed/ etc. which is the reason I was tested to begin with.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Androderm Patch - How long to feel effects?

You should start to feel a little better now. Then in about a month it will go away. It will cause a shutdown of yor testicle production of testosterone & you will probably have to up the dosage. The AD & AGel are very expensive, over $200 per month.

Try self injections of HCG at about 500iu 3 times a week, about $50 per month. It can cause the testicles to produce more testosterone. Sometimes it has to be supplemented with injections of testosterone once a week, about $15 per month.

Your "T" level;s should be in the upper 1/4 of the range.
Also get your Estradiol E2 tested. It should be in the lower 1/3 of its range.

Re: Androderm Patch - How long to feel effects?

Are you rec self medication Jinl???? RealDeal, I think you need to see your Dr and ask for the T, Free T, prolactin, Total E and E2...Plus tryroid and others... IF you search this board you should be albe to find a list... Here is the thing....I have a pituatary adenoma that secretes prolactin.... My Dr put me on Androgel and I was as high as 12 pumps per day with no effect in mood, libido and no dif on my T blood work...you see the prolactin was suppressing the T production and also the exogenous T, only after treating the adenoma with meds did I respond to the AG. So do not believe that shooting yourself in the butt is going to fix your problems... Plus if you buy the T without a prescription you are breaking the law.. so check with your Dr and if he / she refuses to give you the test you want then look for an Endo or anti aging dr...Call ahead and ask if they deal in male hormone replacment... I pay $20 a month for my androgel with Ins... also in regards to the HCG, this is usually prescribed becuase of fertility... Your Dr should have told you that using any T replacment will eventually cause you to become infertile as your testes shut down... I am cursious if anyone has ever tried HCG with AG or AD??? there is no reason that I can see why you could not do that.... There is another member on this board who gives good advice that only usues HCG once a week at the end of his weekly T cycle...

good luck...

Re: Androderm Patch - How long to feel effects?

The advice given above is good. There is no reason you can not take HCG along with androgel or androderm or any other type of T replacement. The HCG will keep your testicles from shutting down, shrinking, and most likely keep you fertile. The reason many do not mix HCG and other T replacements is because when young like you at 35 it may be that HCG is all you need to get your T up to a good level. HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. The brand name of the drug is Novarel. It is injected only and keep the dose small, no more than 500 iu per day and a good starting point is 500 iu 3 times a week. You need a doctor to prescribe it and monitor your blood levels of T and E2 at a minimum.

Self injection is not self treatment without a doctor. It is self injecting the meds with a doctors prescription.

It is expensive & very time consuming to run to the doctors office 3 times a week for an injection.

Hmmm...I guess I was confused...since there was no mention of a Dr or prescription in your advice...sorry.. Also, I am still confused about the whole T injection for $15 a month? Where is that from? So you mean I could walk into CVS or RIte aid with a prescription for T cypionate(sp) and get a 1 month supply for $15? and the HCG for around $50??? or is this a mail order source? Not to beat a dead horse, but I have heard this mentioned and also the componded cream for $30 and the best deal I could find for CC was $150 per month....

Re: Androderm Patch - How long to feel effects?

You have to have a prescription for T-cyp. The doc sends it to a compounding drugstore. I use a drugstore on the internet in the uSA. There are several.

The cost for a 200mg/cc Testosterone cyp 10ml vial is about $60 to $90.

That is 100mg or .5cc weekly self injections for at least 4 months.

Get the 27ga X 1/2" needle on a 1cc syringe at Sams Or Walmart.
Inject into the outside area of the thigh fat.

Re: Androderm Patch - How long to feel effects?

Maybe I confused some of you in my original post. Basically, I was feeling very tired, moody, depressed, weak, etc. for the past year or so.

I am also Hypothyroid and my Thyroid levels are fine.

My internist decided to test my Testosterone levels. They came back at 44 (Normal range is 50-210). I had done some research and was nervous about the possibility of having a pituitary gland tumor/issue - he said that the other numbers in the test we in the normal range therefore there are no issues with the gland itself.

He put me on 5mg Androderm patch and I put one on per day.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me when I will stop feeling sooo tired. I haven't noticed much improvement at all. I've been on the patch for 1 and 1/2 weeks.

The only real lifstyle changes in my life was that I quit smoking 10 months ago and I lost 100lbs.

Sooo... when will I feel better???? Thanks for all of your help!

I've been on Levothyroxine for my thyroid for over 6 years. The only testing I've had was several blood tests. I follow up w/ my doc again in a little more than 2 weeks.
