I just found a lump under my left arm - Men's Health Message Board

I'm really confused on what it is. It is about the size of a pea or a little bigger.
I just noticed it today. I'm not feeling sick at all. it's just starting to be being painful today. I was in the shower and noticed it. the spot is not red or so signs of an ingrown hair. i'm male 38 and a smoker. If you touch it it is very pain full. when you leave it alone it just has a dull pain feeling.
should I watch it for a few days just to make sure. I would really like some feed back.

Where exactly "under the left arm" is it? Are we talking on the arm itself? Armpit?

It is under in my arm pit area. about the center of the arm pit area.

Today is kinda wierd! The lump is still their. I'm going to wait till Friday to goto the doctor. I'm going to rull out any posible causes. The lump is the same size and still hurts to the touch, but no breaks in the skin or irratation, and or redness. If any one out there has the same thing I would like to know what you had gone threw or if you have the same thing what was the cause of the lump? I know this on my reasearch last night that it is a lympnode.

It may just be a swollen lymph gland (even with no fever or other symptoms). Maybe you have a low-grade infection and this is the only symptom.

There is a slight chance of breast cancer (yes, men can get it too) or lymphoma- this is why we all recommend a trip to the doctor. Try not to worry too much until then, if you can avoid it.
