They hypothalmus is what detects the T level in your blood. It sends more or less GnRH to the pituitary depending on what your T level is. GnRH tells the pituitary to make more LH.
If clomid worked for you then it tells me your pituitary is probably fine and the problem is at the hypothalmus. But, depending on what is wrong at the hypothalmus, it may not make LH go up if off androgel for a week. If it did make LH go up then it would argue nothing is wrong with your HPTA. Well, it might go up but not high enough I guess.
Still I think waiting a week is a good idea.
