Hold your testicles and cough test

Hi. I'm not sure about what this test actually tests for, I just saw it in a film and tried it out on myself. I'm 17 years old.

Anyway. When I cough, my left testicle jumps up, and my right testicle stays still. I'm pretty sure that they should do the same thing.

I've been feeling no pain. ... Well I did, a few years ago (in the left testicle only (I think)), but the doctor was useless, basically, and didn't really investigate it much. Anyway, I think other guys have felt sharp pain before. It's probably a kind of growing pain or something.

Can anyone explain why one would jump and one wouldn't?

Thanks

never heard of a holding your own and coughing.

now there is a hernia test done by docotros that involve holding your testicles and coughing (they are feeling for the hernia not what your testicles are doing)

Re: Hold your testicles and cough test

Hi, thanks a lot for the reply. Yep, this test should be done by a doctor.

I heard once that it has something to do with whether they've dropped or not (not sure if this is true).

Surely my testicles should do the same thing?

Re: Hold your testicles and cough test

If you cough, and you have a hernia, it pops out, and goes into the scrotal sac.
That is all they are looking for, nothing to do with the testicles at all.
The turn your head part is so you don't cough all over the doctor.
