Circumcision swelling

I was circumcised a few days ago and was wondering if my condition seems normal. It's really swollen behind the incision like and my penis looks like it has a big reddish hill so it looks lopsided a bit. I also have a fever of about 99 degrees. I went back to my urologist who did the surgery and he said that it looked normal for this many days after the procedure. He said that he put a stitch where there was a blood vessel and that it was just building up lymphatic fluid which will go away in a few weeks and that the fever was really nothing to worry about. He said that he doesn't think it's infected and I don't need antibiotics. Does this sound normal? I'm probably just paranoid

Re: Circumcision swelling

Also I keep it wrapped in a cut gauze pad but every time I need to go apply antibiotic ointment to it, I need to take it off but it is stuck to the healing wound and I have to go soak it off in the shower so it doesn't bleed too much. Is there any way around this?

Re: Circumcision swelling

Hey there,

I noticed that you posted this originally back in March, which means you've probably healed up by now. My son was circumcised on Monday (he's six) and I am wondering if the swelling is normal and if it did indeed go away within a few weeks. I can't believe how big, swollen, lumpy and lop sided the underside of his penis is! Not to mention, the colour. It looks like a big blood blister. The swelling seems to be going down slowly and he doesn't have a fever or anything, so I'm just wondering if the extreme bruising, lumpiness and swelling are all considered "normal" a couple days afterwards.

Any advice you can offer is much appreciated.
