10g Androgel vs. Injections - Men's Health Message Board

I started 10g Androgel (T was about 300) in the beginning of June this year. Although I’ve felt some improvement (no labs yet), it’s not as significant as I had hoped. The Dr told me when I started that he felt injections worked the best but I really don’t like shots so I opted for the gel. I have an appointment in a few weeks. I’m considering going to injections but I’d like some input from you guys on the pros and cons. Are the shots really THAT much better?????

I think it is a preference one way or the other... I was on AG for almost 2 years and I preferred the gel.. It lost its effectivness over time for me... With the shots I feel pretty good energy wise and it has seemed to help me lose weight, but my sex drive was better on the gel. I believe this is due to the fact that gels convert more to DHT and less to estradiol, while shots convert more to estradiol and less to DHT.. And dispite the advertised problem of DHT causing you to loose your hair it is def advantagous to sex drive. so you do the math... I would get some labs on the AG, Total T, free T, DHT , E2 and prolactin and see what is going on... before you make the jump to injections...BTW... I hated the idea of shots myself, but it really is not a big deal...

I agree with Jinxy but would like to add that I switched from
gel to shots with some anxiety but the cost difference convinced
me. Gel was about six times more costly. But I also had much
more libido boost with the gel. Also I would add that now that
I have gotten used to self injection it is much less trouble than
applying gel daily, a simple shot a week. I am sorry that I cannot
get a simple DHT boost, but I am unable to obtain the only med
that is an effective source of exogenous DHT, proviron, which
is a safe oral form.

Yes, LALOV929 is absolutly correct about cost... AG is exp, even with my co pay it was $30 a month; name brand... I can get the T Cyp vile for $15 co pay and it will last at my current dosage for approx 6 months... You do not even want to think how exp AG is without INs... somewhere like $225 per 2 bottle box it believe....

The 10 gram of Agel is about $500 per month. Is this windfall profit?

The Self injection of testosterone cyp is about $25 per month is is much more effective as a 100mg injection once per week.

Us a 27ga X9/16" on a 1cc syringe. Inject into the thigh about 3 to 6 inches on the outer thigh. No pain, no black & blue places.
