Left Testicle Discomfort - Hard at Back

Hi all, I've had this problem for about 2 months now. To make the situation clear, I'll explain it in points:

1. Bought a new bike, started cycling to work

2. Roughly two weeks in started getting a strong dull ache in my groin area

3. Stopped cycling, got it checked by a doctor, said he can't feel anything wrong and to rest it for a few days

4. Over the next 2 months the dull ache seemed to come and go and I noticed the left testicle tends to go hard at times (at the lower back, from online research, appears to be the tail of the Epididymis)

5. Got it checked again today, Doctor still says nothing feels wrong and just to be sure I use support when needed. Just to be safe I'm also going to have a scan of the testicles

---------------------------------------

The lower back of the testicle (tail of Epididymis?) is at it's hardest if I do anything sexual (eg masturbate). I am a frequent gym user and I work out in baggy loose boxers, is this wrong and a possible cause?

I was real scared at one stage that it could be something like cancer (and it's not totally ruled out) but it did seem to be a coincidence that the pain started around the same time I started cycling. Although I cycled to work last year (on a different bike) and have been using the gym on and off for years with no problems.

So I'd like to hear what you think and whether you have been in a similar situation and can offer any advice? What should I wear to work out and any ideas on how I can make the pain go and stay away?

I'm 20 years old

Thanks

Re: Left Testicle Discomfort - Hard at Back

hey man

I workout 3 times a week, I'm older but I experience some discomfort once in a while after lifting and doing some biking/cardio. I'd give more support a try - those loose boxers don't protect the boys enough from the strain of exercise or from "banging around" while you're working out and being physical. I don't think you necessarily need a cup...but maybe some boxerbriefs for some added support. Glad you're working with a doc on this - probably nothing but some strain. I assume he's checked for hernia right?

The doctor never told me he was specifically looking for Hernia but I imagine a testicle examination would have revealed this? I've bought some boxer briefs which i'll be using for the moment, am going to hold off all excersize and see how things go.

hey bud

Chances are he did check for a hernia when he was checking out your testicles. Did he check them out while having you turn your head in both directions and asking you to cough? If so, that's what he was checking for. I think laying off the exercise might be good - but this has been going on for 2 months now...so don't give it too long before going back for another check up. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the reply. I become increasingly scared leading up to my Ultrasound which I had today. The results show I have a epidermal cyst (about 1.3cm in diameter) and although it's being left to my Doctor to give me the results, the person who lead the scan today said I have nothing to worry about.

This is obviously a relief for me but the discomfort remains. I'm one to worry a lot and it currently seems that the discomfort (far from extreme) I'm experiencing with the testicle is partly due to the fact that there are a lot of nerves there and that it's been the focus on my attention for the last few weeks so I'm real alert to any discomfort.

Being the size it is, I assume my doctor will take no further action and tell me to return if it increases significantly in size. I'm happy with this and am hoping that over the next few days I'm able to take my mind of it and go back to feeling 'normal'.

Is anyone out there in the same position and can offer advice on how I can relief the discomfort (which is only slight, but noticeable).

Thanks
