I am a 17 year old male and have been experiencing a dull ache in my left testicle when I have been on my feet for awhile along with swellling of the tube part, but when I lie down the swelling goes away and the dull ache subsides. Also when I lie down, my left testicle gets ever-so-slightly smaller, Was wondering if anyone could be as so kind to shed light on the situation... I have no idea what this could be and to be quite frank, I'm a little nervous.I have a doctors appointment on the 26 of this month just incase your wondering...
Could be a hernia..
Could be vericosole veins. If you have varicosele veins in the left testicle, it is normal to have periodical dull but minor pain. This type of pain, comes and goes. Wearing snug fitting undershorts help.
Quite a few men have these. I have them myself, and every so often I experience the pain that you speak of. There is an option to have them removed, but if you can live with the slight pain, you also have the option not to have surgery. If the pain is severe, surgery might be your best choice. As for the shrinking testicle, that's something the doctor will have to address. Best wishes..
I'm sorry about the other post, I didn't realize this one was still here.
I went to my family doctor on September 26th, he said that there was swelling in the area and set up an appointment with an urologist for October 22. I haven't thought a thing about it it until the dull ache in my testicle started including my pelvic bone, area behind my scrotum, sometimes includes my thighs, and when I went on my daily nature hike I had a chest pain that caused a shortness of breathe. I then remembered I haven't been preforming a testicular exam once a month... more like when I remember to which can be six months to a year. So I checked my self and the left one has a lump thats not too hard and not too soft just above the epididymis, I was taken back by this...do varicocele's cause these things or would it be something else?
I don't know if being premature has anything to do with your/our problem. I haven't experience all the other symptems (thigh, swelling, pelvic) you have described. I do have a small lump, about the size of a stick pen head on the left testes (the one with varecosele veins) that's been there sence I was a teen, if not all my life. I keep close watch/check on it to see if it ever changes in size. So far so good! I always get a perfect bill of health on my annual physicals. I've never even mentioned this lump to a doctor, with good reason. I too was born premature, weighing as little as 4lbs. at birth, delivered by a midwife.lol.. Can ya beleive it! The doctor didn't see me until about a month after my birth. Needless to say, it stunted/hinder my growth quite a bit. How did you turn out? Sometimes premature babies catch up with the other's in weight and size.
So what's the doctors verdict on your varecosels vein problem? Are you having them/it removed? What's with the swelling you've described?
A midwife really! Well I was delivered at a hospital and started out weighing 6 lbs even, but when I came home I weighed 5. I wouldn't say it stunted my growth, I was always shorter than the other boys my age but now I'm 5'8 and weigh 140 lbs so I think I'm normal. Well the family doctor thinks I have a hernia not the varicocele veins, but the only problem with that theory was when he checked for one it didn't hurt at all and he did say there was swelling in inguinal area... I really don't think that he was sure. So he wants me to see a urologist October 22 (next Wednesday)
I didn't know the lump was there because I haven't been checking like I was suppose to, I didn't even Know I was suppose to until two years ago , nobody ever told me. My lump is about the size of a pencil eraser or a little bigger and it doesn't really stick out that far but it is harder than the rest of the testes and it doesn't hurt. It isn't a perfect shape and has an uneven surface. I'll find out what it is then, because a lump like that has to be something and I will tell the urologist about it. I'm hoping its a cyst and if it is something bad, I'm an optimistic person.
As it turns out, the urologist said that the ache in the testicle was the result of torsion of the appendix testes. Which caused the illusion of it getting smaller when I lied down, he said that I'm perfectly normal and the will go away soon
He said there wasn't actually a lump it was the appendix testes, after it twisted it self, it swelled up pretty big and it was hugging the epididymis. He said that things should go down back to normal when the appendix testes falls off, which could be a few weeks or less, but if the ache continues longer than that to make an appointment to see him agian.
