| Redness & "hardening" skin on scrotum after cut
I was trimming my pubic hair a few days ago (the 6th) (not shaving, but trimming with an electric trimmer), and I use the lowest possible trim number. While going down the side of my penis just as I reached the scrotum itself, I nicked myself a tiny bit and started to bleed. No blood was gushing out, it wasn't that serious, but it was bleeding. Just a regular cut. So the first thing that popped into my head was, "i wonder if this could get infected...". A risk I didn't want to take, so I took rubbing alcohol and swished it on a cotton swab and dabbed the cotton swab on the cut just once to kill any bacteria, etc.. It stung like hell. A few hours later, I took a shower and cleaned the area thoroughly. and that was the end of that.
Now, a day later (the 7th), while in the shower I noticed that the cut area is a tad bit red. It looks like some kind of rash. And the skin area around the cut, all that was touched by the rubbing alcohol, for lack of a better word, is harder than the rest of my scrotum. Like you know when testicles are exposed to cold water, they shrink up and the texture changes? that's how it is on just that area.
It itched badly yesterday (the 8th) when I woke up. It was one of those itches that just HAD to be itched or I'd go crazy. I started itching around the cut area and didn't want to scratch it directly but I think I ended up doing so in order for it to go away.
After that itching incident, it hasn't inched since, it doesn't hurt, I can't feel it, but you can see it if you look. It's that hardened type skin w/ a bit of red on it. It kinda seems like I irritated the skin even worse by scratching it.
That is the entire story in detail.
Now I'm wondering if the rubbing alcohol had anything to do with this? Should I just chill for a few more days and see if it goes away? Is there any type of lotion you'd recommend? I'm thinking about scheduling a doctor's appointment for next week, and if it does go away, I can just cancel.
