Antibiotics after testicular exam

Hey, yesterday i had a testicular exam done and was put on antibiotics. I assume they are incase of an infection because i said i had discomfort sometimes, pain after ejaculation sometimes, and it hurt when he was taking the exam.

I am just a bit worried because i dont know if i was really clear with him. I said i had discomfort sometimes. But i dont have it a lot and when i do its usually while working out, i didnt tell him that though cause i hadnt thought about it before. And i had pain after ejaculation a few times in a few months, but i told him sometimes. Was i not specific enough do you think? But it hurt quite a bit while he was taking the exam. Do you think he would mind me calling and just clarifying incase i wasnt clear? Do doctors usually charge for phone calls like that? I just dont want to take an antibiotic because of me being unclear. Any advice would be appreciated thanks. And to make it worse, the antibiotic is almost 50 bucks.

Re: Antibiotics after testicular exam

Testicular infections can happen post injury or from other things. If you have pain it is not normal. Often we tend to think if we forget about it the problem might correct itself. With certain types of infections they can become chronic (basically incurable) and get worse and worse over time. This is true with both testicals and prostates. You will see a lot of listings about prostititis on here (see also orchitis (testicals). There are specific things that Drs look for (test both feel and others). If he is treating you with antibiotics you should go with that and go back for a checkup a few weeks after treatment if the problem seems solved. Early treatment is very important with this stuff as certain types of infections are more readily curable under those conditions and they are somewhat common in men. If treatment does not seem to work you many need more testing. keep after this. Let us know how things go.

Re: Antibiotics after testicular exam

Hey, i finally got the antibiotics today. Thanks for the information, if i didnt get them today i probably would have tomorrow after reading that . But they dont hurt that much, it hurt when he was squeezing them and stuff during the exam, is that normal? Also yeah after ejaculation, once in a while i will get pain afterwords, not very often though. Oh and also, do you know if it is normal to get discomfort while lifting, like working out? Thats mostly when i get it. Thank you! And i will keep you updated.

Re: Antibiotics after testicular exam

I am certain your doc checked for a hernia as that is the first thing they look for. To answer your question though. I get pain when I exert (run, lift weights etc.) when my doc squeezed mine I damn near jumped out of my skin. Untill then he never thought there was anything with the testicle as he had labled it prostititis. Like I say they have to work through the diagnosis. Sounds like you are probably well on your way to getting it solved. If the meds don't solve it go back there are other things it could be.
