testosterone replacement weight gain

While being on t replacement for 1 year, I seem to have put on 5 pounds that exercise, diet, etc. won't eliminate. My waist size has not increased and my body fat has not increased/maybe decreased?!? Have others experienced this gain and does it keep increasing or stay about the same?
Thanks.

Well all that stated it is most likely muscle from the test... If not than maybe a bit of water weight from some test converting to E, but most likely muscle gain... If you know what your body fat is how can you not check your lean mass???

Re: testosterone replacement weight gain

Jinxy,

Sorry for the confusion, I don't know my body fat, just that my waist size has stayed the same (but I'm 5 pounds heavier). Plus, my BMI is 24.1.

Re: testosterone replacement weight gain

if your waist is the same it is likely mostly muscle you have gained. Congrats if so.

Re: testosterone replacement weight gain

Hi,

you should be aware that when you are on testosteone (trt) you will gain "some" weight, most of it will be water weight.... (muscle if you are exercising and taking your required protein to gain muscle mass) this is because the testosterone converts to estrogen via enzymatic (reductase enzyme), when I was on T my doctor prescribed me Anastrozole (Arimidex) to prevent the conversion to estrogen (the women hormone). I would use .5mg every 3 days, it also helps with any signs of gynocomastia. by the way my insurance didn't cover the Arimidex because is used by women... but it works for men.

just my opinion.
