Hi, I've got an irritation on my penis, the head itself, not all over, just in areas. I went camping, we roughed it, which means no shower, bath, etc....I am uncircumsized. Well, those of you that are un-cut know what I'm talking about. Anyway, its red and irritated, and has some itching....No, its not an std, that impossible for me to have, I'm completely into safe sex, one partner, and haven't had sex in awhile. I'm sure its an irritation from urine....I am keeping the area clean, but after sex or masturbation, its irritated again. I'm not sure what to use, as I know its a mucous membrane. Do you think A&D ointment might help it clear up? Or is there anything I can use safely on that area? Help...

Sounds like a yeast infection. Trip to the doc is probably best. I don't think you want to be fooling around with self medications on your penis.

It's possible that it's a yeast infection or just a bacterial irritation.

If it's yeast, then the female yeast infection creams will take care of it in a few days.

I've also used Nesosporin cream, which is what you used on cuts and scrapes as an anti-bacterial cream. It'll work for the other types of irritations.

Naturally, if it's serious or doesn't go away, see your doctor.

Thanks for the responses...Today its better. Just used soap and water, and made sure it kept dry, as much as I could. How can I get a yeast infection? Is it something you develop on your own, or do you need contact? This wick of mine is always covered with latex before dipping it, always has been, I take "NO" chances....Thanks again.

I'm not sure how you develop a yeast infection. Women can get it without ever having sex so I figure the same can happen to a guy.
