Recently I have had this really bad sharp pain in my left testical. It all started about a year ago but the pain has been on and off. When it happens it hurts so bad I cant even move I have to lay there in a position until it goes away......(it lasts about 1/2 to an hour).....I never got hit in that area so I dont know what could be the cause of it?! I just saw a doctor today about it and he did the usually "turn your head and cough" thing and he had me lay down naked and he pushed on certain areas of my groind area.....he said it is a common problem for men to have this.....and he said to take advil when it happens?! Im only 19 and really worried about it. I'm thinking about going to see another doctor....to get an second opion about it! I was just wandering if anyone else has ever had this problem and if so did it ever go away?

Whoa! Definitely head toward that second opinion. We all have experienced some unexplained soreness for a day or two. But consistent ongoing pain doesn't sound normal. Read my reply to Hurtin' Cowboy ("Sore Testicle") who has a similar problem.

You may want to experiment with a different type of support for your scrotum. Especially if you wear boxers. Switch to briefs or a jock strap for a while. It may be possible that you have pulled something, strained a delicate muscle, or have a hernia of some sort. But only a doctor that has examined you can advise you for sure. Congratulations that you went to a doctor in the first place. I am astonished at how many guys are reluctant to see a doctor due to embarassment issues.

Thanks rico-tico for the feedback......yeah I'm going to call and make that second appointment, I mean I tell the doctor that my testical hurts and he says, "Oh its normal, and its really common with men, when it hurts you, you should take advil"?! What the hell take advil....umm i dont think so. Im going to switch to boxer-briefs and see if that helps because I've been wearing boxers for a couple of years now... so maybe that will help! But Im going to see a different doctor and see what he says about it........

Yeah it took me a while to go to a doctor because I was embarassed but then I thought it could be something horrible like testicular cancer or hernia (I had hernia surgery about 11 years ago and let me tell you that was not fun).....

Have you ever considered that it might have something to do with the surgery? I know it was 11 yrs ago but it is something to consider.
