Post Sack peeling skin?

Okay, this is really weird and hard to say... just one day my sack just started to really itch so I think I over scratched it or something and when I take a shower or move around it itches even more, actually it feels like it stings, I noticed that some of the skin or I dunno, some dead skin or whatever was peeling off when I took a hot shower...

It actually looks normal but it stings, I don't know if some new pubic hair was about to grow and i did something to it or something, but yeah basically it feels like it stings/hurts/itches...

What should I do? Going to the doctor would always be a last resort for me, and plus I really don't have the courage to see a doctor for these kinds of things... I'm only 17.. I almost made a big deal out of the last problem; where I had that foreskin not being able to stretch behind the head, not knowing about cleaning behind there but I got help from this forum without going to the doctor which would of resulted in making a bigger fool of myself...

So what should I do about this? Should I put some ointment on? I really don't know how this happened...

Hi Boa. That skin is very sensitive. If you scratched it to the point that you removed some of the outer skin (and it sounds as if you did that when you were itchy down there), then it will sting when water is applied. That's just my idea, of course. I'm not a doctor.

It depends how long the stinging has been going on for, too. If it's been more than a week, I'd start looking at other solutions. I just don't know about ointments.

I'd like to comment on your statement about "making a bigger fool of myself". No doctor would think you were a fool. I'm glad you're satisfied that the "problem" with your foreskin was resolved by guys in this forum; however, if you'd gone to a doctor about it, you would not have been considered a fool.

At 17 years of age, I would not have wanted to discuss these things with a doctor either, so I know how you feel. I hope the situation with your scrotum is resolved soon too.

Basically, you need to stop scratching and touching the area, and let it be so it can heal. It should heal on its own, but if you keep scratching and touching it, it won't. I know itching down there can be unbearable sometimes, so try an anti-itch ointment or spray, available at a pharmacy. You don't need a prescription, and any will do. Once you stop the itching, you'll be on your way to getting better.

As for what caused the itching in the first place, it was probably one of 2 things: 1) you had a fungal infection on the scrotum ("jock itch"). It common for that to happen where the penis rests against the scrotum, where you've got skin to skin contact and moisture. 2) You are growing additional pubic hairs on the scrotum. Whenever hairs grow in, they can itch. And its common for additional pubic hairs to grow in the late teens, especially on the scrotum.

Thanks for your support again. I'll try not to touch it, which would be difficult if you know what I mean and also because of the stinging feeling...

Could it be because the dead skin came off and the layer of the skin is less so it stings/hurts? Why did some of the skin come off though? Is that normal or common?

Is this what is called 'Jock Itch'? How do I know it isn't though? I almost thought I had phimosis or whatever when I had the last problem but it wasn't, just needed some stretching work.

How should I take my shower now, apply less water on it? And would shaving some of the pubic hair help in the future so this doesn't happen again... It just started stinging out of no where.

Sorry for all the questions.

Should there be a lot of hair on the scrotum?
