Low Testosterone Levels with TRT Could someone help explain this to me.
I have been on TRT for 6 weeks now. First set of lab work came back with a 202ng/dl serum Testosterone level and a Free Test Level of 4.1pg/ml. Also LH level was 0.6 IU/ml, FSH level 1.8 IU/ml, Prolactin 18.4 ng/ml, T4 Free 1.13 ng/ml, T3 Free 3.57 pg/ml, and finallt TSH 12.50 iu/ml. I know that the TSH and Testosterone levels were off, Endo prescribed me 200 mg Test Ethante every two weeks I felt Great the first 3 weeks and then the fatigue, low libido, and tiredness started over again. I went for my 6 week lab test on 8-4-09 and here was the results.Total Testosterone level was 226 ng/dl (range 241-827), Free Testosterone level was 4.1 pg/ml (range 8.7-25.1), T4 Free 0.73 ng/dl (range .78-2.19), TSH level 7.58 IU/mL (range 047-4.68 iu/ML), LH Level 0.0 iu/mL(range 1.31-10.5), FSH level 0.5 (range 1.55-9.74), Prolactin 11.8 ng/ml(range 4.1-18.4 (ng/ml), Estradol 22.4 pg/ml (range 5.37-65.9), T3 Free 3.95 pg/ml (range 2.77-5.2 pg/ml), Could someone please help me or explain to me why my "Test" levels didn't increase? I haven't have a CT or MRI to rule out and Pituritary problems. But to me it seems like my levels should have increased to Alot better level than this. Thanks for the reply, I am going Tuesday for my 6th shot. The Endo didn't tell me how long I would be on the shots, I just thought that my levels should be alot higher than what the lab results show. My family doctor said my levels should have when up more. Thanks Again for your input.

Why didn't your doctor try to treat your hypothyroidism first to see if that would resolve the low T? Hypothyroidism is one of the known reasons for low T.

My family doctor is treating my "Hypo" with levothyroxine, I have been on this med for about 8 years. Everytime the levels get bad she just increases the levothyroixine.

TSH should be under 3, yours is over 12 if I remember. That's way too high. I would get that resolved and see if it helps. Also, many doctors do not like the generic for Syntrhoid if that's what you're taking. Not sure why.

Thanks Again. I got a call from my endo's nurse today, She said the doctor is going over my lab results and that they would call me back tomorrow (Tuesday).

Got a call from the "End" today and he upped my Testosterone Ethanate from 1ml to 1 1/2 ml because prior dose failed to raise my "Free" & "Total" levels(from 202 to 226 pg/ml & "free" was 4.1 same as the first lab result I had done in May of this year , and also upped my thyroid medicine from 75mcg to 85mcg. Due to low T4, High TSH.
