You husband has symptoms consistent with hormonal inbalance, possibly adrenal insufficiency and/or low thyroid. The symptoms are often difficult to diagnose because they are intermittant and good days can follow bad days with no obvious reason. His low blood sugar, combined with overweight is a classic symptom because those rarely go together. I will guess some others like: low libido, intolerance to cold/hot, thinking about doing work exhausts him, irritable, muscle/joint pains, bowl problems like diahrea but its not, sugar cravings, salt cravings, dry skin, thick skin on his feet, a feeling like you are watching life pass by on the TV rather than living it, possibly headaches and the outer 1/3 of his eyebrows are sparse.
If he has many of those symptoms then you need to go to the doctor and get a simple blood test for TSH (thyroid), morning testosterone, prolactin (a tumor marker in males), and morning cortisol (adrenal hormones). My guess is at least two of these are low or low-normal. If they are he will need further tests to find out why. Don't put it off because this isn't going to get better and it can get a lot worse. |
