Strange Bump..... - Men's Health Message Board

I have a question i am asking on behalf of my Fiance. He works in a warehouse usually about 8-10 hrnights of running around building orders. Anyways, he also wears boxer breifs b/c he says his thighs rub together and it irritates him. Well, The problem is this. Last night he came home and said he has this big bump on his leg, like on the inner part of his thigh almost where his penis is. But still on his leg. It's pretty large(not huge) if you tough it you can tell there is something under the skin there, like blood, or infection or something. It has this dot or hole at the top sorta like a mosquito bite might have, but it doesnt look or feel like a bug bite. Any suggestions? He's scared its cancer or something to that effect. I told him I'd ask "the board" for any advice. so anything would be great! Thanks

I'd be willing to take a couple of guesses. It may actually be a boil of some type, those can happen pretty much anywhere. I'd think that the most likely thing is something like an impacted pubic hair that has become somewhat infected. I'd be watching for signs of infection (heat, swelling, redness that is spreading, increased pain etc) although it is usually best to leave them alone, some relief may come through warm compresses and trying to get it to form a "head" that can then be opened (best by a doc though) I'd watch it and not be afraid to have it checked with the first sign of trouble.
