At 18, your testosterone levels are through the roof.
In all men, a certain portion of our testosterone (T)
is converted to some estrogen. This is natural in all men.
But some guys during puberty have more of their testosterone (there's alot at that age) that converts to estrogen. This can cause swollen, enlarged, and sore breasts.
When your hormones balance out, so should the testosterone to estrogen ratio. The breast problems will go away.
What Gine2D may have been refering to is in older men. Their T tends to decrease with age. Some will tend to have higher levels of estrogen in their blood which may through off their own T/E ratio causing similar problems.
You'll be fine. It'll go away, but adding testosterone is NOT the answer. That's why bodybuilders get those same symptoms. Because when they greatly boost their T levels, more is around to be converted to estrogen. Same thing with you.
If it's severe, you could ask the doctor to prescribe Arimidex, or Nolvadex (tamoxifen). These are estrogen blockers, and will help. But I've never heard of a Dr. prescribe them to teens or young men.
All teen males do not produce excess testosterone.
Some do not produce enough testosterone & have too much estrogen. This will cause large breast, little if any body hair, & low muscle growth.
Research & experimental Hormone Replacement Therapy work is being done in several counties to correct this condition at the early teen stage.
Some teen large **** do go away, but not all. Most doctors are ignorant on the subject of Gynecomastia in males.
There are 3 groups of males with Gynecomastia.
Gynecomastia1 - they hate them & have surgery to remove them. About 20,000 per year world wide.
Gynecomastia2 - These men have learned to modify life styles & have accepted what they have. Millions of these.
Gynecimastia3 - This is the new growning, pun intended, group that enjoys their large sexually sensitive **** & are starting not to hide them like the other two groups.
None of the three groups are considered homosexual.
They are just men with a different body type.
I have gone through groups 1,2, & now in group 3.
I am married with children & my wife loves my **** like I love hers.
Some males are also part female. They have XY/XXY Mosaic chromosomes. They have natural large breasts because of their genetic makeup. This is a varient of the Klienfelter Syndrome. They have a lot of female estrogen receptors in the breast area.
