I know that it can affect fertility but I don't think that it can cause low T-levels.

I don't think so. I had a varicocele (corrected by surgery about 4 years ago), and I don't remember ever reading about it effecting T-levels. Just fertility.

Hi, I might have my varicocele removed but I am scared of the surgery. Does it hurt and how long does it take to heal until you can do sports and stuff ?

There are several things that can affect your T-cell count. Not to be an alarmist, but have you considered being tested for HIV?

I'm with scaredguy. I have an enlarged varicocele as well, but I'm a little bit nervous about having it surgically corrected. I have some questions before I go through with it: Does it hurt?, How long does it take to recover?, How much does it cost?, Is it worth it?
