Question to Gine2d about Test. replacement - Men's Health Message Board

Hey Gine, My T levels are on the low end of normal also ( I'm 19, and supposedly my T levels should be at the high end, above 700ng/dl, for my age. I'm at 327ng/dl, and about the same on 2 other T tests.) Was it hard to convince your doctor to give you testosterone supplementation since you are not out of the normal range?

After the doctor reviewed the results of the hormone test he was the one to suggest the supplements. I did not they were available.

Injections are the least expensive, but they give high levels on injection day to low levels in a couple of weeks. The AndroPatch is more even but it is large & has to be taped on daily. The AndroGel also gives even levels, but is expensive if the insurance does not cover it, about $130/month. The Gel is just rubbed on the skin each night before bed.
It is worth it in my case.

My insurance doesn't cover prescriptions so I've done a search on compounding pharmacies that can make up a testosterone gel or cream out of any prescription your doctor writes. Found prices from $20 to $80. Sure beats Androgel!!
