Question for men who have had vasectomys - Men's Health Message Board

Somebody recently told me that there are side affects to vasectomys that doctors do not tell you about. Since my husband is planning on getting one when we are done having children, im curios to see if this is true.

had mine done no side effects at all the best decision i ever made. the only thing is to rest for the weekend and put ice and have a jock on need to keep the package up tight for a few days

There can be serious side effects, and less serious side effects. There is a web site about it. It is non-commercial, so I hope it is not deleted, and is dontfixit.org . Yes, this is a site produced by those who have had problems, so you will hear all about the bad things that can happen.

Anyway, you might read that web site and make an informed decision about what to do. Many men have no problems, and some have minor issues that they never even bother to report to the doctor. Note, too, that there are problems with women getting their tubes tied, so it seems that any kind of birth control has risks. A vasectomy might be the lowest risk thing to do, so don't let the web site overly scare you.

Hey coppertop - I posted on here about this a couple months ago so if you want to look back a ways you might find it helpful. All the men's replies were great and they all said that it was the best thing they ever did and even made sex better due to a worry free lovemaking attitude with the lack of fearing a pregnancy.
