Post mens shaver???????

Hey im a 23 year old male that most of the time hates using a regular razor. I have tried all of them and diff. techniques(i.e. hot water, using hot rag before and after, etc, etc.) I was wanting to get an electric razor, and money is not a problem. But before I spend up to $200 I was wandering if anyone has suggestions about which one is the best, cuts short, leaves face feel the nicest, etc.??????

I have a Braun Synchro, and it's probably the best one I've had--electric shavers never do as good a job as a razor; I have a tough beard, but this shaver is pretty decent. The best feature is the cleaning/sterilizing unit--you don't have to clean it out, just pop it in the electric cleaning unit, which cleans and recharges the shaver. Shop around before you buy though--they are readily available (as are the cartridges of the cleaning fluid)--but price varies widely: when I bought mine a year ago, it was in stores for over 160 bucks and up...but I got the exact thing online from one of the major national chains' website for just over 100 bucks. Pays to look around. Good luck.

My first electric shaver was a Norelco, the kind with the 3 rotating heads. My face used to get irritated after shaving. I started to use a product whose brand I cannot recall. This minimized the irritation. The product was a pre-shave lotion, intended to be used with electrical shavers. The product claimed to make the hairs stiffer and stand out so that only few passes with the electric razor were enough. This product was on the same shelf as the aftershave lotions. It is a small investment to see if it works for you.

I have since switched to Braun type shavers I no longer need to use the pre-shave lotion. Probably my face got thougher over the years.

Hi V-neck
I bet the stuff you're talking about is the old "Williams Lectric Shave." hehe Haven't seen it in years, and not sure if it's even still made. I also had an old Norelco years ago, same reaction as you--I ended up giving it to my brother, who had no problems with it. I, too, like the Braun I have now--but I don't use it all the time. It supposedly screws up the cutting if you shift back and forth between the electric and a razor, but seems ok for me. One thing that does help with the electric irritation: they say you should shave with it before a shower, and all, but a few minutes before, a quick swipe of Lubriderm keeps the abrasion from the elec shaver well under control.

I have settled on a routine that works for me. I like the quick shave from an electric razor. It works better if I shave after I get up but before washing my face or taking a shower. Perhaps the oils on my face help it glide better without irritation. I use both a Norelco and a Braun. One on the road and one at home. They work about the same. I have used Electric Shave and it does seem to help. But after a week or so of electic shaving, the hairs I have been missing on my neck are starting to get long, so I shave with a regular razor in the shower. I can then maintain that closer shave for about a week before I need to clean it up again.
Experiment until you find what works for you.
Cheers.
