Re: PSA increase on Testosterone Replacement

Ken/Others,

Time gets away from us and I figured that I'd update with my Striant usage. My most recent Total T=714 (free T=29) and PSA=.9 So, my numbers are good, I feel good most days and remarkably, only use the buccal disc during the day (not at night). It seems my PSA has leveled back off and the increase was likely due to prostatitis.

How are things going with you?

Re: PSA increase on Testosterone Replacement

That is good news. I'm very happy for you. It has been over a year since I quit injections and went through withdrawl which wasn't fun. My red cell numbers are back in the normal range and I'm feeling better. I don't feel as good as I did on testosterone but not too bad. Maybe if my T numbers get way low I'll try the gel and see if my red blood cells except that better.Keep in touch.

P.S. It is true like Haymaker that when I quit I lost like 5 pounds and wasn'y hungry and had to force my self to eat. My blood pressure and pulse increased to. I felt really crummy and it took about a month until I felt kind of normal. It was not a good time. I was thin anyway so I looked and felt bad.

Re: PSA increase on Testosterone Replacement

Ken,

Sorry to hear you went thru it but am glad you're feeling better. I stayed off for about 6 months and just couldn't function (panic, etc). Sure enough, my Total T level was a whopping 180. Went back on the Striant, 2x/day (day/night) and eventually settled back on just the once daily dose. I attribute my rise from the total t of 550 range to 700+range to getting my blood pressure under control (Benicar HCT). That's the only explanation for me as I'm not even using the usual dose of Sriant and I'm 500+ from my baseline. My old pharmacist did tell me that the buccal administration of a medicine is the most effective (%) form so that 30 mg by buccal was doing much better for me than 50 mg of gel. Still, I'd love to get way from t replacement and hoping to one day make it on my own again someday (either naturally or medically . For now, Striant is the best option for me.

Re: PSA increase on Testosterone Replacement

Thanks for your last post. Something interesting happened to my testosterone levels, at least by the saliva results. About a month ago my results showed a 50% increase over the 1ST time I took it which was about 2 years ago. This was before I started my testosterone injections. Instead of showing low borderline, it is now showing high borderline. Don't know if when I stopped the injections it kick started my testosterone or what. The results may be different with the blood test but the saliva test shows free testosterone and that is the most important. It has been a little over a year since I stopped T replacement. Praise The Lord!!!

Re: PSA increase on Testosterone Replacement

Hi there stranger!!

Just wanted to say hi and that I'm doing good. How have you been feeling? Still not taking any T but seem to be functioning OK. My labs are pretty good. Don't want to know my T level.

Let me know how things are going.

Ken
