Question Swelling of testicles after surgery

My husband had surgery on Tues. of this week for an aneurysm in the stomach. It was done through incisions on the rt. and left lower abdominal area--near the groin.
When he left the hospital the color in the groin area was dark blue/black and yesterday and especially this morning his testicle is swollen to the size of a grapefruit!! I posted this on the urology board but no answer as yet.

No pain, but he can hardly urinate due to the foreskin (he isn't circumcised) on the penis being so swollen!!

He talked to a doctor on call this morning who said it sound like a broken vessel and since there is no pain and he can urinate (just has to work at getting the skin back), waiting until tomorrow would be ok---tomorrow being Monday.
He is running a low grade 99 degree fever and the doctor on call said that was normal. He said they would have to do an ultrasound to determine if the vessel is the problem so if he starts having discomfort or other symptoms, of course, go to the E.R. Anyone here have this happen? thanks.
